Dear Mr. Cohen:
As a follow-up to our telephone interview of this morning, this will confirm that I
have offered you a summer internship with this office, during the period from May
15, 2005 through August 15, 2005. The agreed-upon compensation will be RMB
8,000 (about USD 1,000) per month after tax, payable in equal semi-monthly
installment of RMB 4,000 after tax. At your request, you will serve as an
independent contractor, and tax withholdings by our office shall not change this
status. You will be responsible for your transportation to Beijing, and local living as
well as commuting expenses. Please note that as an independent contractor you
will not be eligible for coverage under our health insurance program.
Our office is situated near Tiananmen Square, the center of Beijing. I have enclosed
a map of the surrounding area and information concerning public transportation.
As I indicated in our telephone conversation, your duties and responsibilities will
include legal research and writing, general correspondence, litigation and clerical
support. You will be assigned an office of your own, and I have enclosed a diagram
of our office suite. In accordance with our office regulation, our suite, and for that
matter, the entire office building are designated as “non-smoking” areas.
On May 15, 2005 at 8:30 a.m. sharp, please report to Mrs. Ruifang Li, our HR
Manager, who is located on the 6th floor of our office building, to complete new
hire/payroll forms and receive general Human Resources information. You will need
to bring with you your passport and visa for identification documentation. At 11:30
a.m., you will meet me for a short briefing conference. My office is located on the
5th floor – Mrs. Li will direct you.
If the foregoing is acceptable to you, please execute this letter in duplicate and return
one copy to me, in the enclosed self-addressed envelope. The other execution copy
is for your records.
In the interim, should you have any questions concerning the position or the terms
and conditions upon which we have agreed, please email me immediately.
With best regards,
Very truly yours,
Zhang, Deguang
