Youth Culture
Older people often encounter bias against them. America has such a strong youth culture that some men even feel the need to dye their hair when they find a few greys. At the top of the corporate ladder, age and experience are still valued. But in many other facets of life, older people are unfairly discriminated against. As upsetting as this is, we should not find it surprising. In light of America's relentless pursuit of the next new thing, American culture doesn't take the potential contributions of seniors as seriously as cultures that place a higher value on tradition do.
